VOC in the News...

Recently you may have seen our efforts spotlighted in the news.  VOC was featured on NBC26 WGBA-TV Green Bay, WI.  See the video and article below:
"Voice of Compassion / Haiti has been blessed with a huge donation of soap from SCA. We are hoping this will increase awareness of the continuing problems in Haiti and in Voice of Compassion as a conduit for people who want to help." ~Jerry Block, VOC President

Help for Haiti

By Eileen Park
CREATED Feb. 16, 2012

Neenah, WI - It has been two years since the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Many Haitians are still living without drinkable water and basic toiletries, but a large donation by a company in Neenah hopes to change all that.

It all started out when Rene Zuiches, Jeep Driver for SCA made a small request to her colleagues for used and new perfume, shampoo, and other toiletries. Her efforts caught the attention of SCA Management, a hygiene and paper products company, and the rest was history.

Rene said, "SCA gave us over a 1,000 cases of "Tork 3 in 1" shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, that is worth $25,000. I just started crying when they told me because it was so exciting."

All of this is for Haiti, a nation still devastated by he 7.0 magnitude earthquake that rocked the country in January 2010. The donation will be given to VOC (Voice of Compassion). It's a non-profit organization working hard to improve the living conditions of Haitians.

President of VOC, Jerry Block, said "This is an exceptional donation, very large. Most of  our fund-raising and support comes from rummage sales and small and personal donations." Jerry expects the shipment of soap to arrive in Haiti within two months.
